

CHAMPION DEWEY SIKES, JR., 90, of Jacksonville, Fl died June 13, 2016. Dewey was born July 19, 1925 and graduated Andrew Jackson High School. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps as a Navigator on a B-17 Bomber during WWII. He then spent 60 years in the wholesale hardware business with the S.B. Hubbard Co. and Florida Hardware, among others. At one time he was the oldest wholesale hardware salesman in the state of Florida. He was a loyal member of First United Methodist Church and served as Head Usher for 10 years. He was Cub Scout Master for each of his 3 sons.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 73 years, Naomi; sons Ted and Tom(Denise), daughter Peggy Sikes Byers; 6 grandchildren, Patrick Jones, Marcie Davis (Clay), Savannah Sikes, Sierra Sikes, Phoebe Sikes, and J.J. Snow; and beloved sister-in-law Shirley Sapp; preceded in death by daughter Paula Sikes Jones (Ron) and son Terry Sikes (Bonita).
Visitation will be held Friday evening June 17th, 6:00-8:00 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at Greenlawn, 4300 Beach Blvd., 32207. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18th at 1:00pm., First United Methodist Church, 225 E. Duval St., 32201. Rev. Tony Chance officiating.
