Charles Daniel Knight,

KNIGHT, Rev. Charles Daniel Knight, Sr., 80, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, August 4, 2008. Rev. Knight, a U.S. Army veteran, served in Germany during the Korean War. He served as Pastor of various church’s in Jacksonville including, Hartville Baptist Church, Home Garden Baptist Church and Lake Forest Baptist Church. He was also former Pastor of Ritch Missionary Baptist Church in Screven, Georgia. He was active in the Jacksonville Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention. Rev. Knight received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree in 2005. Upon retiring, Rev. Knight returned to Dinsmore Baptist Church where he had initially served as a Deacon, continuing to be an active and loyal servant. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen Knight; 2 sons, Danny Knight and his wife Linda and Ricky Knight; 4 granddaughters: Kim Mixon and her husband Mike, Shay Dillinger and her husband Daren, Amanda Wells and her husband Jason and Chrisandra Knight; 7 great grandchildren: Lindsay, Leighton and Landon Mixon, Soren and Simone Dillinger and Jonas & Jaxon Wells; a special and devoted niece, Betty Fay Pickren and several other nieces & nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 6, at Dinsmore Baptist Church, with Pastor Winson Butler, Rev. A.L. Nelson and Rev. Joey Roundtree, officiating. Interment will be in Jacksonville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday (TODAY) at COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1426 Rowe Ave.
