

Affectionately known as "Bit", he graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. After serving 26 years in the United States Coast Guard and 2 years in the Air National Guard, he worked for Commercial Carrier, and as a Tug boat Captain for the Jacksonville Shipyard’s, and Dixie Towing. He loved hunting, fishing, the outdoors, cooking, gardening, dancing (even clogged on the Grand ole Opry) and spending time with his family.
Charles was a proud member of the Warrant Officer Association, Fleet Reserve 126, honorary member of the River Bend Hunting Club, Garden City Methodist Church, Garden City Men's Class, and a Lifetime member of the NRA.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Calhoun Lacey; mother, Helen Galloway King, and brother, Phillip Michael Lacey.
He is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 56 years, Sandra Bailey Lacey; brothers Jim Lacey (Mary Alice ); John Franklin Lacey ( Virginia );William Walker King; sister Helen Allison Bennett; daughter Kelley Lacey Harrison (Charles);sons Charles Thomas Lacey(Kelley); Brian Jason Lacey Sr.(Melissa); grandchildren Ryan R. Leslie, John A. Leslie(Holly), Brian J. Lacey Jr., and Kailey S. Lacey; and two great grandchildren Cassidey E. Leslie, and A.J. Leslie; and many nieces and nephews
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax. FL 32205, where a visitation service will be held Tuesday Nov. 18 2014 at 6pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Nov.19,2014 at Garden City Methodist, 3057 Dunn Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32218, followed by church fellowship and interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218 at 2:30 pm. Pallbearers are Ryan R. Leslie, John A. Leslie, Brian J. Lacey, Eric F. Bailey, Jeremy P. Bailey, William E. Hurlbert Jr.
