Charles received a bachelors degree in psychology from David Lipscomb University and his interest in others’ wellbeing continued throughout his life. It showed in the way he cared for everyone he met. He had a way of making complete strangers feel comfortable and seen. He knew that God loved them, and he wanted to show them God‘s love through his thoughtful actions. Charles could not keep cash with him because He would just give it all away to the homeless. He genuinely cared for others. Foremost in his priorities was his love and desire to be right with God. He was baptized into Christ when he was 11 and strove to live according to God‘s word ever since. He was a devoted husband and father. He was tireless in his efforts to protect and provide for his family.
Charles was a lover of life! He was no nonsense, a teller of truth as he saw it, but quick to say he was wrong as well. He was humble and “down to earth” and approachable...except to people who didn’t know him and saw his natural scowl. :-) Charles was an animal lover. He had to pet every dog he met, and he never met a dog he didn’t like! He was a sports enthusiast and could talk sports with anyone. He loved vacationing with his family and going to the beach. One of his greatest joys was playing with his sons. He loved a good debate and strongly felt people should be able to disagree and still be friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Homer Felton Spraggins Jr., his stepfather John Darrell Conley, and his precious unborn baby, Jordan.
He is survived by his wife of 9 1/2 years, Kathy Kilgo Spraggins, his sons Ethan MacKenzie (23), and Jude Zachary (8); his mother Judy Conley, his brother Mark Spraggins (wife Kirsten) of Atlanta, Georgia, his aunts and uncles, Barbara and Pete Harry and Kevin and Cindy Batey, 12 nieces and nephews, and many other much loved family and friends.
There will be a celebration of life at Lakeshore Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 18, 2021. Visitation will at 2:30 PM with the celebration beginning at 3:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to someone in need or a charity in his name.
