

Charles Freeman Winney, Jr., walked peacefully into eternity with his family at his side, on the 12th of February 2025. Charles was the son of Charles Freeman Winney, Sr., and Chloe Westbrook Winney of Jacksonville, Florida and predeceased by his dear sister Nancy Winney Baker on February 29, 2024. Mr. Winney was a graduate of Englewood High School in 1960 and completed his education at the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in accounting in 1964. He began is work at Harlan-Fischer, later moving to the firm of James & Harris where he remain for over 50 years until his retirement in June of 2023. Mr. Winney was very active in his community and in his church. For over 30 years, Charles was an active member of his church participating in the altar guild, Celebration Choir, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, the vestry, an usher, the Church Treasurer and most of all servant of God. He was a member of the Jacksonville Stamp Collectors Club, Board member and President of the San Jose Lake Association, member of the American Philatelic Association, and Lifetime member of AICPA. His greatest achievement was being a loving husband and father to his wife and children. Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda (Lin) Williams Winney, Stephanie (Travis) Kinlaw, Charles Freeman Winney, III, Amy (Daniel) Flores and grandson Aiden.
A Mass of Celebration will be held on March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Cathedral, 256 East Church Street, Jacksonville, Florida. Reception to follow at the church.
