Charlie Mitchell Sweat (Mitch) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while golfing with friends on March 17, 2018 in Jacksonville. He was 65 years old. Born in Jacksonville in 1952, Mitch graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1970. He married Patsy Tanner and joined the Airforce, being stationed in South Carolina. He moved back to Jacksonville to raise his family, working in sales as a representative and distributor of commercial products.
He married April Collum, the love of his life, in 1994, and that same year created his own firm, Southeastern Industrial Sales Company (SISCO). Initially working from his and April’s living room, he built SISCO into a thriving and widely respected business with five offices serving markets in Florida, Georgia, and the Caribbean. He touched the lives of many people, and his energy, humor, and warmth will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 23 years, April Collum, his children, Charlie Sweat and Melissa Sweat, granddaughter Taylor Sweat, and sisters, Loretta Jordon and Jenny Post.
Mitch did not want a formal memorial service. In keeping with his wishes, family and friends are throwing a party to celebrate Mitch’s life. All are welcome to join us in raising a glass to Mitch on Saturday, May 5, from 1:00-4:00 pm at the San Jose Country Club 7529 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32217, (904) 733-2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mitch’s name may be made to City Rescue Mission of Jacksonville (http://www.crmjax.org)
