Christopher Michael Cunningham, 48, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away August 5, 2020, at UF Health Shands with his loving wife by his side until he transitioned at 5:17pm. Born November 23, 1971, in Lincolnton, Georgia, the son of Carrie Lou and late Zelma Cunningham, he was the youngest of three siblings. On November 16, 2011, he was joined in holy matrimony to Gwendolyn L. Prince -Cunningham. He was accepted into full membership into the African Methodist Episcopal Church, (St. Paul, AME), Class No. 55-15 on February 24, 2013.
Chris received US Navy Military Training from September1990 - 1993 and was deployed in 1994 USS
George Washington Tour. His last assignment transferred to AIMD (Weapons Department) NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. He received countless Navy achievement honors and medals including Southwest Asia Service Medal, recognizing his exemplary service to the country. His Navy term ended on May 5, 1998. He was transferred to the Naval Reserve where he remained on call as active. After his discharge, Chris graduated from Columbia College majoring in Criminal Justice, while he was employed by the Jacksonville, Sherriff Office for 22 years. He was promoted through the ranks achieving his Lieutenant leadership over the Crime Scene Unit until his untimely demise.
Chris is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Lalisa Cunningham of Jacksonville, Florida, two sons from his
prior marriage: Cameron Michael Cunningham of Salisbury, NC, Christopher Michael Cunningham, Jr. of
Blacksburg, VA, two step-children; Ashiya D. Prince-Morgan (Alphonso) of Miami, Fl, Joszef M. Prince of
Miami, Fl, three granddaughters; Janiya Prince, Tationa Prince and Layla Prince of Jacksonville, Florida. One former step-daughter from his prior marriage; Jasymne Haywood of Grand Prairie, Texas. His mother; Carrie Lou Cunningham of Plum Branch, SC; One brother Ray (Jean) Cunningham of Plum Branch, SC; Eleanor Harden (Travis) of Thompson, GA; Uncles and Aunts: Shirley Bussey (Patrick) of Plum Branch, SC; Deloris McManus (Giles) of Edgefield, SC; Zelena Terry of Trenton, New Jersey; Gertrude Clark of New Orleans, LA; Arzella Freeman of McCormick, SC; Walter Cunningham (Joann) of Plum Branch, SC; Charlie Cunningham (Doris) of Plum Branch, SC. (2) Brother-in-laws, (5) Sister-in Laws; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Navy family, JSO family and friends throughout the states and abroad.

Funeral Services will be held on August 15, 2020 at, Paxon Revival Center at 12 pm.
