CLAIRE CAUSEY CLAY September 25, 1929 - May 27, 2018. Claire passed away peacefully at her home on May 27th. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Reggie, in September 2012. Born to Rebecca ("Beck”) and Grady Causey in Austell, GA, she is survived by younger sisters Emily and Joanna. Her children are Becky (Dave), Rachel, and David (Sharon); loving grandchildren Carly, Matthew, Clay, Daniel (Jennifer), Tracy (Joe) and Brian; great-grandson Logan, who will welcome a baby sister in August.
After moving from Daphne, AL to Jacksonville in 1972, Claire enjoyed a successful career as a Realtor. A firm believer in giving back, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Learn to Read, the Republican Party, and others.
She was a member of St. Paul UMC, Audubon Society, Hidden Oaks Garden Club, and Republican Women. For 15 years she created memories for her family by renting a beach house in Fernandina. She enjoyed time spent in meditation and reflection while looking at the marsh and tidal creeks in the backyard.
Hobbies included bird watching, traveling with Reggie in their RV, writing letters to the editor, vegetable gardening, cheering for the GA Bulldogs and watching SEC football. She was also a fan of ornamental garden fowl.
The family is grateful for the loving attention given by her caregivers (Velda, Janie, Cindy, Dee and Susan) and Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Community Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6th at St. Paul UMC., 8264 Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, Fl. Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. assisting the family.
