

The Rev. Clarence E. “Clay” Rose, 86, died April 25, 2012. Raised in Orlando, Clay was a graduate of Orlando High School, Stetson University in Deland, FL and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Mr. Rose pastored churches in Florida, Indiana and Kentucky. He also taught school in each state, the last tenure at Sandalwood in Jacksonville.
Survivors: son, James (Debbie); daughter, Cynthia and their mother, Jeanne; also surviving are a granddaughter, Tiffany and two great granddaughters, Isabella and Gabrielle.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Clay experienced profound hearing loss in his later years; but, benefitting from the latest technology, a cochlear implant, and outstanding medical care, his life was enhanced and never impeded. He became interested in severely hearing-impaired youth and requested memorials to the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, attn: Tonya Rhodes, 207 N.
