I’ve had some difficulty saying goodbye to my Dear Friend Smitty.,.he truly was a special friend that meant so much to those who got to know him. He was a kind spirit yet restless with his friends that he wanted to see succeed in life!

His dedication to his immediate Family and His Extended Work Family was unparalleled with his kindness and individual attention to those he build a friendship with.
I will always consider Clarence one of my Closest and Most Valuable Friends...

May you Rest In Peace good friend,  I shall treasure our Friendship until we meet once again!

First, Grandmother’s name was Ethel Jackson McConnell.
Uncle Clarence was Grandmother’s oldest child. She loved him dearly! 
I remember her stories of working at Piggly Wiggly so she could send money to Uncle Clarence when he was in college at UF. She was so proud of his education and accomplishments!
Uncle Clarence was a kind and generous man. I always enjoyed my talks with him at family gatherings.
He always watched out for Grandmother, and he was a very devoted son. He wanted her to never want for anything. He tried to make her retirement years enjoyable and worry free, as much as she would allow.
Thank you Uncle Clarence for your kind, generous sole. May you Rest In Peace and have a nice visit with Grandmother and Mom in heaven. Give them each a hug for me.

I met Smitty 25 years ago as a young accounting professional with Tree of Life.  I sat in his office across from his desk many evenings after everyone else had left so he could "school me" on distribution.  I asked him so many questions...he seemingly never got tired of answering.....he burnt through a few dozen cigarettes in the process.  And this was AFTER they banned smoking in buildings.....good thing his office had a window...he'd put his ashtray right by the window so no one would know.  Pretty sure it wasn't a secret.    I learned so much from him in those early years and I appreciated the support that he showed me.  Many years later, I ran across him in our local Publix store in Vilano.  I was surprised to see him.....gave him a big hug and told him how much he meant to me and that I considered him one of my favorite mentors.  He was happy to hear about my career success and it was a great moment to share that with him.  He made a difference in my life and I'm sure many others as well.

I know you will miss him.  He was a great man.  My prayers and thoughts are with you.
