

Clarence “C.B.” Tompkins, age 89, passed away on July 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 27, 1926 in MacClenny, Florida to Lou and Idabelle Tompkins. He has been a resident of the Jacksonville area most of his life.
Prior to retirement he was a Deputy Sheriff with the Jacksonville Police Department for 22 years. He was of the Catholic Faith. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bertha Hazel Tompkins, a son, Louis H. Perry (Julie) of Jacksonville, FL , two daughters, Ann McCullough Buie ( Stephen) of Jacksonville, FL, and Penny Marie Perry Burge (George) of Yulee, FL. He also leaves to mourn five grandchildren, Casie Jackson, Brooke Walker, Lacy Kittle, Louie Perry and Braden Perry, and four great-grandchildren, Zach Stafford, Jade McClure, Trey Trapnell and Benny Kittle.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Spring Glen United Methodist Church, 6007 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32216 with a funeral service being conducted at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL. Those who wish my make a donation in C.B.’s name to the Spring Glen United Methodist Church.
