

Clarence, affectionately known as “Sonny” to family, was born in Anderson, South Carolina on September 18, 1930. He spent his formative years in Columbus, Georgia and enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 at the age of 20. After completing his contract and receiving an Honorable Discharge, Sonny attended, and graduated from, the Georgia Institute of Technology and went on to spend his professional years in Cleveland, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Rosemary K. Tutt, to whom he was married for 37 years. Sonny and Rosemary relocated from Cleveland to Jacksonville, Florida and lived in Deercreek Country Club for many years, where they made and spent time with many friends.
Sonny and Rosemary loved to travel. Sonny had a passion for Cleveland sports, particularly the Browns and Indians. Sonny had a number of hobbies and interests, and he loved animals, especially his Schnauzers of which Hollee was the most recent. He loved music, with Frank Sinatra one of his favorites. Most of all, Sonny loved Rosemary.
Sonny was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary Tutt; his parents, James Beasley Tutt and Clara Eugene Myers, whom he adored; and his cousin, Carol Marie Colbert Tucker. He is survived by his cousins, Pamela Colbert Baker and Ralph Colbert, Jr., and many friends. Sonny will be dearly missed.
A Graveside service for Clarence will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery, San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, with a reception to follow.
