October 21, 1952 – January 6, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Faye Kongeal, who entered into heaven on Monday, January 6th, 2025, following a tragic car accident. Her treasured mother, Carolyn June Kongeal, was also involved and passed away just hours before her. While we grieve the overwhelming loss of our Connie and her mother, we take comfort in knowing they arrived in heaven together.
Connie was born on October 21, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a beloved mother to her two children, Cara Templeton and Matt Templeton (Jessica) and one granddaughter, Leah. Connie was the oldest of her siblings and is survived by her three sisters and one brother; Karen Brown, Cindy Ganas (Larry), Candy Shirley (Dr. Paul), and Kenneth Jr. ("Son").
Her granddaughter, Leah, was the light of her life. She looked forward to the holidays and her visits with great joy and spent the weeks leading up to them preparing to spoil Leah the moment she arrived. Connie and Leah shared a deep connection and many common interests including going to the zoo, arts and crafts, reading and staying up all night watching classic movies such as the Wizard of Oz. Connie was an accomplished artist and Leah intends to honor her grandma by continuing the training they began together in calligraphy, painting and jewelry making.
Connie’s dedication to her family was unmatched. She was completely adored by her daughter Cara, son Matt and his wife Jessica and her granddaughter Leah. She loyally took on caring for her mother over the last ten years, moving in with her and looking after her with adoration. Their days were filled with lunch outings, hair salon visits, sweet treats and recruiting her sisters to decorate the house for various holidays. In their downtime they enjoyed doing puzzles and playing cards with each other. There was never a dull moment.
Connie’s nieces and nephews will remember her having an unparalleled sense of humor and fabulous handwriting, which no one in the family can rival. Her leading the family in the Happy Birthday song at every party will be greatly missed. Connie lived life to the fullest and even recently defeated lung cancer. She was a strong woman and her character will be carried on through her family.
The family of Connie Faye Kongeal is proud to call her Momma, Grandma, Sister and Aunt Connie. We can only imagine how happy her mother and father were to welcome her home.
