Constantine "Deno" Mastrogianakis

Constantine (Deno) Mastrogianakis passed on April 27th, 2021. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 19, 1927 to the late Larazus and Mary Mastrogianakis. He attended local schools, graduating from Andrew Jackson High School as officer of his class and star athlete. He lettered in football, basketball and track. After graduation he served his country in the Army in South Korea with the CoE 17th Infantry Regiment, Sgt. Squad Leader 607, and was awarded the WW11 Victory Medal. He then attended the University of Florida earning a degree in Marketing. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was employed by Jefferson Smurfitt as Maintenance Supervisor retiring after 39 years of service. He was a lifelong active member of St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church. He served on the Parrish Council as the treasurer for eight years. Through the years he served in many other capacities as well as Co-chairman of the Greek Festival in 1991. He began the first athletic program for the boys, winning city championships. He was a member of the Andrew Jackson Men’s Breakfast Club, Senior Citizens Club, Veterans Club and a member of The University of Florida Alumni Gator Club of Jacksonville, and Red Cross Life Guard. He was a staunch Gator fan! Go Gators! He was predeceased by his parents, Larazus and Mary Mastrogianakis; sisters, Bessie Krestalude, Anna Marees; and brother, Nick Mastro. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ethel Roman Mastrogianakis; son, Dr. Larry Deno (Christina Spoto) Mastrogianakis; and daughter, Deanna Mastrogianakis; sister-in-law, Mary Roman and Eva Mastrogianakis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 3rd at St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 12760 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32246 with Rev. Dr. Nicholas Louh and Rev. Dr. Milton Magos, as officiants, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Gate 5, 4535 Main Street N, Jacksonville, FL 32206. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St John The Divine Capital Fund or to a charity of your choice in his memory.
