

Cynthia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was deeply devoted to her family and touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
After graduating from high school, Cynthia completed cosmetology school and spent the next 50 years helping her clients look and feel their best. Her career was not only a profession but a ministry of care, laughter, and confidence that she shared generously with others.
She is survived by her children, James (Janie) Rutherford and Lorin (Amy) Rutherford; her grandchildren, Kayla, James Brian, Ethan, Zachary, Justin, Dayva, Thomas (Anslee), Lauryn, James Brett, and Jasmine; and her great-grandchildren, Carson, Weston, and Amelia. She is also survived by extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve McCann; her daughter, Carin; her grandson, Jason; her parents, James William and Bernice Geneva Hayhurst; and her sisters, Theresa White and Colieta Sullivan.
Cynthia will be remembered for her love of family, her caring spirit, her devotion to her clients, and her willingness to go out of her way to help others—even if it meant giving her very last dollar. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at 11849 Mandarin Forest Drive, Jacksonville, Florida. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory.
