On January 31st, 2023, heaven got a little brighter. Dana Grant Covart Rhyne passed away at home and has reunited with her father and mother, James and Pola Covart. Dana was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and grew up in the Arlington area with her brother, Jon Covart, where they would spend much of their time outside having fun with their cousins and neighborhood friends. Dana attended Sandalwood High School (class of 1975) and was a member of the choir.
Dana loved this world and all its beauty. After living in various places like Maine, Cuba and Guam she moved back to her roots of Jacksonville, FL where she raised her two children, Carmen Bernard (John) and Anthony Richardson (Tara). Her children along with her grandchildren, Trevor, Devon, Donna, John Jr., Christopher and her nieces, Rachel and Sarah were her pride and joy. In 2005, a new chapter of love began when Dana married Jim Rhyne. Dana, being the loving and nurturing soul she was, became a mother once again and helped raise her stepchildren Jimmy and Mandy.
As we reflect on Dana, let us remember her for who she was as a person. Dana was the epitome of what it means to be beautiful inside and out. Her kind eyes, welcoming smile, and warm heart were sure to lift you up even on the darkest of days. Singing, crafting, gardening, and of course, her love of animals were some of her many passions. Our sweet Dana will be missed greatly but her love and memories will live with us forever.
