Daniel Charles Schmidt

Daniel Charles Schmidt passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the age of 66 in Jacksonville, Florida. Dan was born on September 21, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The second son of parents Charles and Patricia (living), he served his country in the United States Marine Corps after high school and was honorably discharged in 1978. Dan then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He worked within the default servicing mortgage business for over 30 years, living in Missouri, Arizona, and numerous other places before finally moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While there, Dan met his future wife, Nancy, at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church where they were both parishioners. They married in 1997 and moved to Jacksonville in 1999 where they raised a family.

Dan was a dedicated parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville where he served as a Lector, Usher and regular adorer of the Blessed Sacrament. He instilled in his children a deep sense of faith and trust in God that continues to live on within them today.

Dan will be most remembered for his often-colorful humor, hard work ethic, and extraordinary zeal for the Lord and his family. Although dearly missed by his family, as a faithful son of the Church and the Blessed Mother, Dan’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is enjoying his eternal reward in Paradise.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nancy; a son, Matthew; a daughter, Mary; a stepson, Edward; as well as by his mother, Patricia; his sister, Sandy (Jim); and two brothers, David (Betty) and Michael.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207. The viewing will take place prior to the funeral Mass from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assumption Catholic Church. Please note to designate to the Altar Server Ministry which Dan ardently supported and are in need of new vestments.
