

Dr. Darwin Darrell “Buddy” Phillips passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carson Phillips; son David Phillips (Michelle) of Jacksonville; daughters Cheri Locke (Dickie) of Hickory, NC and Lynn Phillips of Jacksonville; grandchildren Blake Phillips, Miles Phillips, and Alex Locke. Buddy was born in St. Louis, MO on January 23, 1932. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1964. Buddy received his medical training at the University of Tennessee and was an Anesthesiologist at Baptist Hospital for 35 years. While at Baptist Hospital he also served as Chief of Staff. Buddy was an avid golfer and enjoyed the company of his many playing partners over the years. We will miss his sense of humor, the smell of his pipe, his wonderful cooking and his sweet spirit. The family would like to thank all who have cared for Buddy over the past several weeks, especially those at Brooks Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. His family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until the 3:00 pm service time in the chapel of the funeral home.
