David C. Fisher, Jr., 51, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, David C. Fisher, Sr. along with grandparents and many aunts and uncles. His mother and sister were holding his hands as he took his last breath and he knew he was loved. A native of Jacksonville, FL, David was born on December 4, 1967.
His mother describes him as being a very active and curious little boy and at times, mischievous. He was very intelligent and enjoyed reading and was always an excellent speller. He participated in the school Spelling Bee and became the School Spelling Bee Champion while attending the 5th grade at Loretto Elementary. He enjoyed time spent with his paternal Grandma and Papa fishing from the pier in Jacksonville Beach; he later enjoyed doing the same with his daughter. As he got older, he would spend summers working in a family lawncare business or riding on his father’s milk truck helping deliver milk and dairy products to customers.
David graduated from Wolfson High School where he participated in the U.S. Army JROTC program and then served his country in the U.S. Army. After his Army career, David was an auto mechanic for many years before finding his gift for helping others at Citi.
David dedicated more than 22 years at Citibank and was a valued member of the Electronic Banking Team. He possessed a wealth of knowledge within the Citi Electronic Banking tool and suite of products, was a great partner, and was always willing to help his colleagues across the entire business. He was very passionate about his work and always strived to do the best for his clients.
David is survived by his mother, Sharon Fisher; his sister & brother-in-law, Crystal & Tom Murtha Jr.; his daughter, Allison Joy, “the apple of his eye and he was her biggest cheerleader” and his former wife, Ilene Fisher (Schnall). He is also survived by his close, dedicated and loyal friends, Patrick Osterman, ‘brothers’ for more than 40 years and Stephanie Conlan; God children Madeline and Abigail Osterman; Jodi Stobe, ‘sister’ for years and many more loving family and friends. David, along with his quick wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends and family 6 - 8 pm on Fri, March 22 at Greenlawn Chapel, 4300 Beach Blvd. A celebration of David's life will be held 10 am Sat, March 23 at Greenlawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s name to American Diabetes Association and St. Jude's Hospital. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Home.
