

HIGGINBOTHAM David R. "Foots" Higginbotham, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011. A native of Jacksonville, FL. The son of the late Mr. Leasie I. Higginbotham and Mrs. Carrie Bellamy Higginbotham. Foots was a life long Christian of Baptist faith. He loved his family and was one of Jacksonville "finest" Police Officer for 25 years. He loved the outdoors, loved to cook, and his love of music allowed him to play his harmonica and guitar to sing for most of his life. He lost his beautiful tenor voice before a stroke disabled him for 5 years. Foots served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired with Jacksonville Police Department and was a member of the Masons. He will be missed by his family and friends. Foots is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glory Higginbotham; his son, David Wayne; his daughter, Cynthia Diane Sharpe (Donnie); his 2 grandchildren, Donald Jr., and Nathan Lee Sharpe; sister, Gladys Godwin; brother, Sidney Higginbotham (Barbara); many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral Service will follow visitation in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home at 2:00pm, with Chaplain Clarence Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow to Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery of Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jones College or The Christian Radio Channel. www.hardage-giddensedgewood.com .
