

Delores Dunkley Bomar, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 7, 1942, in Farmville, Virginia, to Archer Eugene and Virginia Page Dunkley.
Delores graduated from Prince Edward Academy with the Class of 1960. Over the years, she worked for Deluxe Check Printers and the Florida Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). She served as secretary for both St. Johns House and Duval House, becoming a steady, mother like presence devoted to supporting troubled youth. She later transitioned to the Property Administration Department, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of service with DCFS.
Delores loved spending time with her family, especially traveling back to her hometown to visit relatives. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, cross stitching, and many other crafts.
She was a longtime member of San Jose Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the ladies class.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles “Matt” Bomar; her brother, Archer Dunkley; and her granddaughter, Jamie Grace Hudgens.
She is survived by her children, James (Jimmy) Bailey II (Vicky) and Lori Hudgens (John); her grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Bailey, Caitlyn Hudgens, Christian Bailey, Lindsey McIntosh (Dylan), Abbey Parmer (Brock), and Wesley Hudgens; and her great granddaughter, Emersyn Jane McIntosh, arriving in May—all of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jim Bomar (Valeria), Donna Lord (Bobby), Sheila Ross (Fred), and Annette Bell (Steve); eight step grandchildren; and sixteen step great grandchildren, all of South Carolina. Additional survivors include her brother, Wayne Dunkley (Bonnie) of Brunswick, Maryland, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins
A visitation will be held on February 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, located at 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
The funeral service will follow at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
