

Delores Clarke was the second child born to the late William and Frances McClellan. Delores was born on July 6, 1933. Her sister Dorothy Mae Wheatley preceded her in death. Delores moved to Miami, Florida, when she was young and was educated in the Dade County public school system where she graduated in 1952 from Booker T. Washington Senior High School. Delores departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she served on the Usher Board. Delores was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. She was the matriarch and protector of her family. Her kindness and generosity was far reaching, and extended way pass her family into the community. Where there was a need she was quick to respond. Delores was always imparting wisdom and knowledge to those she interacted with.
For many years Delores worked at Sunland Training Center serving the mentally handicap and disable population. She worked for Dade County School board for ten years and later began her long career with Western Electric for 15 years where she transferred to Bell South as a MSC until her retirement.
Delores and Benjamin R Clarke, Jr. entered into the Holy Estate of Matrimony on January 20, 1956. Benjamin preceded her in death.
Delores leaves to cherish her memories: one granddaughter whom she raised as a daughter, Laterryca (Domonique) Flowers, four sons, William Jenkins who preceded her in death, Jeffery, Larry and Steven Clarke (Penny), four nieces, Sylvia (Michael) High, Raynae (Melvin) Taylor, Inez Bentley and Lonise Wheatley, three nephews, Lonnie Wheatley, Bernard Moody and TyRon Price, 14 grandchildren, Nichelle Haymore, William Jr., Courtney, Jarrett, Jarrell and India Jenkins, Jeffery Jr, Devondra, Devon, Kenneth, Serena, Seth, Patrice and Shemika Clarke, first cousins, Charles, Earl, Barbara Ann, Robert, Larry, and Carl Hudgins, Mary Joyce Woods, Carol Wilson and Richard Thomas and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.
