March 5, 1932 - November 24, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores Evelyn Garber, who departed from this world on November 24, 2023, at the age of 91.
Dolores was born on March 5, 1932, in Granite City, Illinois, to Evelyn and Olis Turner. She was part of a close-knit family of seven siblings, with her sister Jeanne, who currently resides in Hawaii, being the sole surviving sibling.
In 1950, Dolores encountered a dashing Air Force serviceman at a USO dance on a St. Louis Riverboat, and she and John were married. Their union blessed them with a son, Olis (Jo Anna), and a daughter, Stella (Christopher).
While Dolores earned her Cosmetology license, her most cherished professional role was as a Diamond Representative at the Jacksonville NAS Exchange. This position took her to New York City and various Military Bases, a role she relished.
Dolores found joy in her Mandarin home, especially in her swimming pool and flower garden, where roses held a special place in her heart. On a vacation In Jackson Hole, she indulged her passion for sketching the rugged mountain range and wildflowers. Notably, Dolores had a talent for baking delectable treats for everyone, but her greatest source of pride was her family, whom she frequently treated to trips to Disney World.
Her legacy extends through her children, who gifted her with five beautiful granddaughters and two spirited great-grandsons:
(Olis) Twins Ashley (Andrew) & Renee’ (Michael) with Great Grandsons Myles & Ryder
(Stella) Sarah and Twins Kristen & Lauren
Dolores played an integral role in raising her grandchildren, and her absence will be keenly felt by each and every one of us. Her warmth, love, and nurturing spirit will forever resonate in our hearts
