He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Palmer) Arthur in 1988 to whom he was married 35 years and his son William (Bill) Arthur in 2016.
He is survived by his wife Laurene Smith Arthur to whom he was married 34 years. He was proud to be the patriarch of four generations. His sons were his pride and joy. He enjoyed working on any projects inside or outside with them. His surviving sons are Stephen (Steve) W. Arthur (Jackie) of Franklin, TN; Jon C. Arthur (Debbie) of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and J. Michael Arthur (Wendi) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. His surviving grandchildren are Ryan Arthur (Savannah) of Nashville, TN; Rebecca Sweet (Philip) of Franklin, TN; Paul Arthur (Toshua) of Jacksonville, FL; and twins Benjamin and Mackenzie Arthur of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He is survived by six great grandchildren: Emaline and Everett Arthur, Penelopi Sweet, Gracie, Lily, and Jacob Arthur.
He has been a Lutheran all his life and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran in Jacksonville Beach where his funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 AT 11 am.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and served with the 13" Fighter Squadron of the Air Defense Command during the Korean Conflict.
He was also a Colonel in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He was a salesman in the envelope/paper business all of his career until he retired from Unjax in Jacksonville as Director of National Sales Accounts.
