Donald Joseph Brandel

Joe was born on January 14, 1940 in Hamilton, OH to Frederick Charles Brandel and Helen Alice Wright Brandel. He had an older brother Fred W. Brandel of Forest Park, OH who preceded him in death in 2012 and younger sister, Marilyn “Cookie” Brandel Rearick of Northville, MI.

He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Sherry Dean Wells Brandel, and his children: Liz Brandel of Knoxville, TN, Joe Brandel, Jr and wife Debbie Brandel of Knoxville, TN and Nancy Ridley and husband David Ridley of St. Johns, FL. Joe had 7 grandchildren: Chris Weitlauf of Union City, TN, Ashlee Davis and husband Brian Davis of Albany, OR, Britt Moulds and husband Tyler Moulds of

Midlothian, VA, Kevin Brandel and wife Emily Brandel of Knoxville, TN, Tym Brandel of Knoxville, TN, Luke Ridley and wife Danielle Ridley of Lynn Haven, FL and Jake Ridley of St. Johns, FL. Joe had 2 Great Grandchildren, Grace Moulds and Luna Ridley.

Joe was a graduate of the University of Kentucky in 1962 where he played football and became a lifetime fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. He was a retired Plant Manager for Modine Manufacturing where he served as Plant Manager at the Paducah, KY and Knoxville, TN facilities. Joe and Sherry retired to Sunset Beach, NC, then Huntersville, NC and finally to St. Johns, FL. in 2002. Joe loved being with family and friends and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, golf and woodworking. He could be seen and heard at many of the football, baseball and basketball games he attended while supporting his grandchildren and their friends.

A mass of christian burial for Donald will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM in San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church, 1718 FL-13, Saint Johns, FL 32259.

The committal service will be held at 1:00 PM in Oaklawn Cemetery 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
