To Don My Loving Husband,
I want you know how much I loved you and to thank you for a wonderful marriage of forty six years and also for the three years we were together before we got married. You were a great partner,friend, and husband.I could not have asked for any better. You were a wonderful father and a great role model for Donnie & Patrick. I will always remember all the good times we had together going to flea markets and antique shopping on the weekends. I was glad that I was able to help you these past two months that you were not feeling well and was unable to do for yourself. The lord gave me the strength to help take care of you. I know that you are in a better place and the lord is looking after you since I am no longer able to.I am going to miss you and you will always have a place in my heart.

Don,

I  thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and the days before that too.  All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake, with which I will never part.  God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.  If love could only have saved you, you never would have died.  It broke my heart to lose you. But you didn`t go alone. For a part of me went with you the day God called you Home.

What I will miss the most is the conversations that we had setting around the table while having dinner together, the hard times that we gave Pat, and how much you enjoyed my ribs.  Things will be different without you and I will miss you greatly.

To my dad,
 One of my fondest memories of you although there are many is after working all day and probably tired to the bone was you  taking the time to play baseball with myself, my brother and our neighborhood friends. I never realized what a sacrifice  this must have been until i became a working adult myself.This one simple act of unselfish love showed  a complete dedication to family that has always remained with me and close to my heart for many years now and reminds me how lucky we were to have you for a father and what a great husband my mother had found.Just know that your influence on me runs very deep and I will never forget you as long as I live.

To all of my family,
Don was a wonderful husband to Pat, an outstanding Dad to Donnie and Patrick, the best big brother to Jerry, Larry, Randy, and me. His passing has left a void that will never be filled on this earth. But he is now with Mama & Daddy in Paradise, and one day we will all be reunited for a family reunion that will never end. Comfort comes in knowing that our loving God could not stand to see Don suffer one minute longer, so He took him Home to give him a brand new, eternal heavenly body that will never again become sick or die. Don is now having the most incredible time imaginable in Heaven. And our loving Heavenly Father lets him still see us from above. Right this very moment he is smiling down at each one of us, and wanting to express to us how happy he is, no longer in pain and no longer physically limited as he was on earth. Our precious Mother always said that she wanted all of her five children to outlive her, and we have done so. But now she has her firstborn child back. Don and Daddy are probably fishing right now, as they liked to do together on earth. And I know that Don is surrounded by man's best friends, dogs. He always loved dogs growing up and as an adult. Don will live in our hearts forever, and one day we will be together again -- FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER!!!

Awesome video!  What a great keepsake! Though I haven't seen Pat or Don for more years than I'd like to admit, I have always cherished my memories as a teenager going to their house to visit Donnie.  We (Donnie's friends) always felt welcomed and always had a good time!  The Butler house was such an interesting house to visit…..I remember their Coca-Cola kitchen, lots of cool antiques everywhere and “the loft”!  Though Don will be missed by family and friends, I do believe he is in a better place; however, he will always remain in our hearts.

Don's death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but his love for all of us leaves a memory no one can take away. We have to cherish those memories and celebrate his life.
As we are mourning Don's passing; there are those in heaven rejoicing because he is there.
I know that God will take care of us as we get through this loss together.

Pat, Donnie & Patrick we are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful husband anf father.  hold on to all the good memories.  Don was a great hardworking man who loved his family dearly; he will be greatly missed.

Pat, I know that your world will seem boring without Don.  He always brought light into the darkest places. The world will not be the same place without Don. I once seriously considered writing a book about the times that I spent with him and his brothers and Sugie and Pat, but I know it would have been called "fiction."  People would also say, "No one actually lived the way they did; you only see that in the movies!"  Don laughed and caused other people to laugh more than Jackie Gleason.   Yet, he was also an astute businessman who is still well-remembered by the customers of one of his businesses before his brother Jerry purchased it in about 1971 or 72.  Well, Pat, Jerry, Larry, and Pamela -- I know only all too well who we have lost.  This is from Bob Nelson and the gang, the whole gang.

My sincere Sympathies go out to the family of Don. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this most sorrowful time.
