

Don was born on October 20th, 1953, in Moorhead Minnesota to Darrel and Donna Fonder. He grew up in a small resort town in northern Minnesota, Detroit Lakes. Most of his family still lives in Detroit Lakes and he has numerous friends still in the area. Don met his wife Eileen (Renner) in 10th grade speech class.
After graduation from high school, Don served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, from 1972 to 1976. He was an Avionics Systems Specialist, having attained the rank of Sergeant E-4. He earned his AA Degree in Electronics while he was in the Air Force.
Don was the best father any child could have. He was a little league coach and taught many kids to ski. He loved all water sports. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was loved by all.
Don was retired from the Florida Times Union. He was in sales and developed a lifelong friendship with many co-workers.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eileen, and two sons, Nicholas and Cody, and wife Joanna Fonder and their two children, Chloe (age 3) and Jace (1-1/2 years old). Don was a devoted grandfather.
A funeral service will be held at the Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd. on Saturday, September 28th, at 4pm
