GUNTERDonald Ray Gunter, Sr., age 76 passed away at home peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 22, 2015 at 2:38 PM. He was born on February 4, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Molly Gunter White and Arthur Otis Gunter.Ray was a graduate of Andrew Jackson Class of 1958. He served in the Air National Guard. Ray also spent many years as a Police Officer with the Jacksonville Police Department. Following his service with JPD, Ray founded Ray Gunter Trucking, Inc. where he was active until his death.Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jean Royal Gunter; son, Donald Ray Gunter, Jr. (Joy); daughter, Stephanie Gunter Cochran (Tim); six grandchildren, Regan, Ashley, Mackenzie, Courtney, Chris, Caden, Sisters Lana Gunter Kisiel and Rita White Roundtree. He is preceded in death by his brother Harold Otis Gunter .Ray leaves behind his loving pets, Lucky, Brownie, Baby, Littlebit, Blondie, Bighead and lots of little homeless cats. He was a very kind and gentle man with his pets.The family will receive friends at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Friday May 1, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Road with Pastor Manny Ketser officiating, where Ray was a member.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Ray’s honor to the American Cancer Society and Wounded Warriors.
