Doris T. Averitt

Doris Averitt was born in Portsmouth, VA on October 17, 1920.  She passed peacefully on August 22, 2012.  She was married to the late William T. "Jack" Averitt for 58 years.  She is survived by two daughters, Jackie Driggers (Wayne) and Jan Burnsed (Ed); two grandchildren, David Feehley (Jennifer) and Hollie Hemmerly (Tony); and numerous grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Audrey O’Connor of Portsmouth, VA. Her passions were dancing, crocheting, gardening and in her youth played concert piano.  Her largest passion, however, was immediate and extended family. She retired from the Defense Logistics Agency in 1982. She always remarked what a good life she had lived.  She will be missed and remembered by many. Services will be held on September 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
