

Doris E. Gilhousen “Granny Doris” 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 25, 2013. Her mother died when she was 18 months old. She spent part of her childhood in a Catholic Childrens Home. Doris was a generous and unselfish person who was rich beyond measure in devoted family and friends who loved her.
She worked with children for over 30 years at Avondale Baptist Church and had a home daycare for 46 years raising many generations of children and even some of their children. She was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church for the past 10 years.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mickey Gilhousen, granddaughter Morgan McGill, and great granddaughter Casey Marie Stuckey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 6 children

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Lakeshore Baptist Church Refurbising Sanctuary fund for she loved her church.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 29 from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S. Edgewood Ave. Funeral services will be 10 AM Wednesday October 30 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
