

Jean Tolleson Coit passed away on May 6, at Community Hospice / St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was born on October 6, 1927 in Birmingham AL., to Edna and Henry Johnson. Jean moved to Jacksonville in 1956, and is preceded in death by her first husband, Herb Tolleson, her second husband, John C Coit (Jack) and her son, Russell Tolleson. She is survived by sons Christopher Tolleson (Kathy) and Mark Tolleson (Sheri), grandchildren, Dillon and Anna, sisters Gloria Nickelson and Edna Brooks, and brother, Herschel Johnson, several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. She retired in 1993 after 40 years in dentistry, working the last 27 of those years with Dr Joel W. Baker. Jean was a member of Southside United Methodist Church, San Jose Country Club and The Florida Yacht Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, entertaining, sewing, being a mother and friend to many. A funeral service will be held at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave. on Thursday, May 10th at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, May 14th, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers and in Jean’s honor, the family requests that you help someone in need.
