

She was a talented oil painter and enjoyed ceramics and gardening, especially raising breath-takingly beautiful red amaryllis. She was a member of the Willing Hands Circle at Lake Shore United Methodist Church.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, William S. Gates, Jr. (Sam). She is survived by her sister Helen Porter of Colorado Springs, three children: Sandra Adams, Randal Gates and Gloria Kivipelto (Glen), five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who will sorely miss her.
Viewing / services will be held at 10am, May 13, 2017 at Hardage Giddens 729 S Edgewood Ave, Jax. Fl. 32205.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name would be appreciated to the P.E.T. Project c/o LSUMC, 2246 Blanding Blvd, Jax. 32210. This worthwhile, all volunteer organization (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HEDTsZeLJc ) builds hand-crank wheelchairs for landmine/war victims and those with birth defects or polio in over 82 countries.
