Dorothy C. Martin was born December 16, 1936 in Washington, DC, to Lou and Lillian Cohn, and passed away on April 17, 2021 in Jacksonville. As a child, she grew up in Chattanooga, TN, Scranton, PA, and Miami, FL, finally settling in Jacksonville. She graduated from Landon High School where she was Head Majorette and had fond memories of throwing her baton high at Gator Bowl stadium. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Florida State University where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. In the early 1960’s she was proud to be the Assistant to Ira Koger, credited with creating the first suburban office park. Dottie loved meeting people from all over the world and traveled through the Caribbean and Europe. A lover of the ocean, she was an original and longtime resident of Old Ponte Vedra. She was fascinated by NASA, a PBS supporter, and an enthusiastic Neil Diamond fan. Dottie was a loving and supportive mother, who instilled in her daughters the importance of an open mind, curiosity in the world and respect for all. She will be missed every day by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Martin, her husband George Aponte, and Dawn Martin Mirkin, and her husband Craig Mirkin. We are grateful and love you, Mom.
