Died April 2, 2020
Jacksonville, Florida
Dorothy was born in Utica, New York. along with 10 brothers and sisters. When she was 18 her Mother and two siblings moved to Jacksonville to be close to her Brother who was stationed there. Soon after, she married her first husband and had three boys. Thirteen years later she found herself a single Mom raising the boys in the San Marco neighborhood. With the help of her Mother she raised the children. Having to go back to work, she had several jobs until she settled in at Paramount Pictures as an Executive Secretary. There she met her current husband Walter Mock, who was recently widowed. They married in 1983. They had many memories together. They spent most of their retirement in Astor, Florida at Parramore’s Campground where they met some wonderful lifelong friends. Dorothy loved to feel needed. She took great pride in caring for people. First, her elderly Mother, then her 94-year-old husband. Her favorite pastime was reading fiction books. She enjoyed fiddling with plants and flowers. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed her prayer time. Dorothy had an uncanny relationship with St. Anthony for finding lost items. When she wanted to escape, she would listen to IL DEVO. An all male music group. Her signature look was her beautiful Smile, Red lipstick, and red glasses.
She was predeceased by her son Thomas Davalt. She is survived by her Husband, Walter E. Mock Sr.,her two sons, Robert and her “Daughter In Love” Patricia, and David Alan Davalt and her other “Daughter In Love” Stacey.
