

Dorothy (Maw Maw) was born in Folkston, Georgia on April 30, 1938.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charlie & Clara Lloyd; her 5 brothers, Archie, Franklin, Edward, Paul, & Richard; and 2 grandchildren, Christina Louise Nelson and Eric.
She is survived by her husband, “Pastor” Abraham L. Nelson, Sr.; sister Trudie Kindrick; daughter, Louise (Leon) Engel and grandson, Levi Engel; daughter, Clara Mae Jones, grand-daughter Bridget Thomasson, great-grandchildren, Chyanne, Taryn, & Coty; son Abe (Lisa) Nelson, Jr., grand-daughter Joanne Smith & great-grandchildren Pricilla, Emily, & Katie, grand-daughter Natasha Moore & great-grandchildren Ben, Haley, Jackie, & Edward, grand-son Richard Nelson, ex-daughter-in-law Melany Brady & great-grandchildren Hailey & Christina; daughter, Darlene (David) Wilson, grand-daughter Tina Barfield & great-grandchildren Austin & Aaliyah, grandson D. J. Barfield & great-grandchildren Orion & Destiny.
She enjoyed singing in and out of Church. Her #1 goal was to serve God. She loved family & fellowship, cooking and preparing food to feed anyone who was hungry (she is well known for her peanut butter cake).
She loved her family gatherings, her times of fishing in St. Augustine on her floating dock. She loved oysters as fast as you could shuck them.
She was loved by many but loved you back more.
Visitation & Funeral will be held at Home Garden Baptist Church, 6422 Bluebird Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32219: Visitation on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Funeral on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 10:00 am the burial will follow at Pigeon Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
