Dorothy Lee Parker

Dorothy Lee Parker, 90, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Community Hospice – Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. Dorothy was born in Alamo, Georgia on February 21, 1926. She and her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1952. In 1964, Dorothy and her family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida and returned back to Jacksonville, Florida in 1994. Dorothy loved her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for children was so great that she provided in home day care for over 30 years and touched the lives of many children and their families. She also loved cooking, sewing, reading and watching football and baseball.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Janie von Hofen (Bill) of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa Keefe (John) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Loraine Parr (Bob) of Ponte Vedra, FL; and son, Tommy Parker (Carole) of Apollo Beach, FL; along with 7 grandchildren; Barbara Deaton (Trevor), Bobby Parr (Malinda), Jennifer Rutherford (Chad), Sean Parr (Sara), Jane McComas (Derrick), Kyle Parker (Jenny), Alex Parker; and 4 great grandchildren; Wyatt Deaton, Madison Rutherford, Marley Rutherford, Emersyn Parker. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas, daughter, Donna and son, Jimmie.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, located at 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207. A funeral service will be held, at this same location, on Friday, December 9th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert E. Parr, officiating this Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association or Community Hospice – Earl B. Hadlow Center.
