Dorothy was born in St. Louis, MO. She was a mother of six children. As a young woman she worked in a factory during the war. To be close to her children during their high school years, she ran the school’s cafeteria serving children. When she moved to Florida, she became a minister of a non-denominational church and opened up her home to those in need.
She loved God and her family above all things. Her greatest prayer and wish was for every single family member to be saved and born again, to see her in heaven one day. She was a mighty prayer warrior. There wasn’t a day that passed that she didn’t pray for every person she knew.
When Don and Dorothy moved from Missouri to Florida in the late 1970’s she found her new passion, it was Florida’s sunshine and shark teeth. From that point forward, it was hard to pull her away from her new found hobby, hunting shark teeth. She quickly included her grand children then her great grandchildren and would have included her great great if she could have driven them. Before she lost her sight, she loved to work in the yard, flowering, reading to her grandchildren, playing cards, doing crosswords puzzles, and praying, praying, praying!
She has been the matriarch of our family, always inspiring others to be the best they could be. We have been very blessed to have her as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother though out our lives. Her love towards all of us has shown us what true unconditional love truly is.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, sisters, her son, one grandson, one great grandson, and one great granddaughter. She has five living children. Twelve grand children, eighteen great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
To say she was a blessed woman and to say we were blessed by her would be an understatement. We know the lord welcomed her and said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
