Dorothy Jean Fraser Tomlinson was born January 1, 1944, in Jacksonville, FL and met God face to face on January 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach.
Known to most as Jean, she grew up in San Marco and graduated from Landon High School. She worked for Duval Federal Savings & Loan for many years, first as a teller and later as the Vice-President of Savings. In 1962, she married Ronald Fraser, her husband of more than 59 years. Jean later remarried Robert Lee “Bob” Tomlinson, Jr. Together they attended and were married at Heckscher Drive Baptist Church where they first met.
Jean was a long time member of Heckscher Drive Baptist Church and for decades was a dedicated teacher to preschool children.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald (Ronny) Stanley Fraser; and her parents Merrill Eddy Wilson and Dorothy Lee Wilson.
Jean is survived by her husband Bob Tomlinson; three children Stacy Gilder (Thad), Aaron Fraser (Margaret) and John Fraser; three grandchildren Nicholas Gilder, Mirandie Mathis (Seth) and Ferris Fraser; along with many other family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life for Jean will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Heckscher Drive Baptist Church, 6650 Heckscher Drive, Jacksonville, Florida 32226.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heckscher Drive Baptist Church to continue Jean’s ministry of children.
