Dorothy “Dot” Vieira, 92, of Jacksonville, Florida, peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2016. Dot was born in Old Forge, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1924. Dot graduated from Old Forge High School and shortly thereafter, spent two years in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Dot met her husband, Frank T. Vieira (10/28/1919 - 1/12/1986). Together, Dot raised two children with Frank, Kathleen “Kathy” A. Vieira (Vasser) and Anthony “Tony” Vieira. Dot spent three years in Bahia, Brazil while Frank was stationed there during his tenure with the United States Navy.

Dot and Frank eventually moved to Jacksonville, Florida after Frank’s retirement. Dot and Frank built a home where they raised their children. Dot spent the rest of her life in this home until she was called upon by the Lord on June 22, 2016. Dot was an avid member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 50 years. Dot enjoyed cooking homemade meals, maintaining a garden, and taking family vacations. Dot also had a passion for giving back to her community by volunteering with several organizations such as at her local voting precinct, and at various food banks administering food to the less fortunate.

Not a day went by that Dot refused to speak to someone. Dot would speak with any person in any location no matter the time of day or night. Dot is survived by her children; Kathleen A. Vasser and husband John, Anthony "Tony" J. Vieira and fiancé Dana, her Grandchildren; Amy Beam and husband Trevor, Christina Schroeder and husband Eric, Jennifer Schoell and husband Blair, Nicholas Vieira and wife Katie. Dot also had three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Schroeder, Brylea Branam, and Keslea Vieira. Dot was predeceased by her brother Charles Leschinsky, her sister, Irene Muha, her husband Frank T. Vieira, and her great grand-daughter Kadence Branam.

Dot’s legacy and the compassionate heart she possessed will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The Family would like to thank Community Hospice for their devotion to Dot’s life as well as a heartfelt thanks to Tambra Shurley RN of Community Hospice.

Tony and Kathy, So sorry for your loss. It was a wonderful childhood growing up on Eulace and playing in the woods next to your house. Your mom was a great lady and Janene and I were always amazed seeing her chop her own wood for the fireplace even in her 80's! We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dot by far was one of the sweetest and wonderful lady that I ever known. Growing up across the road and "helping" her and Frank build their home at age 4, Dot always had cool-aid made in the cool-aid smiley face pitcher, 53 years later it still brings a smile to my face. Tony, Kathy and family my heart goes out to you all and Dot, I told you 3 weeks ago that I will see you again, so until that time rest well, I love you!

Dot, I will truly miss one of the bright spots on my Meals on Wheels route, YOU! You always had a smile even on the days I could tell you weren't feeling well. You always had a nice word to say also. Go with God knowing you are loved and missed.
