After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1974 he embarked on a career that spanned over 40 years with the Department of Defense at NAS Jax as an aircraft mechanic.
A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, it was there that he married Helen Cooley on Nov. 26, 1983 with Monsignor Logan officiating.
Besides work and family Edward enjoyed fishing, boating, cars, old-timey movies, music of the 1960’s and joking with his friends. He volunteered as an assistant scout master for several years with his son’s boy scout troop. He was also a member of the Masons and the Scottish Rite.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Irene Kehrt. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen and son, Donald.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 in the Legacy Lodge at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home and Cemetery, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. in Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery.
