Edward Walter Rambach, 92, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Sparta, Tennessee. Ed was born on June 3, 1922 and lived in Jacksonville, Florida until his move to Sparta in 2012 to live with his middle son, David and daughter-in-law Deborah. Ed graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School in 1941 and joined the US Navy shortly thereafter where he served in the Seabees during World War II.After his military service Ed joined his brother, Jack, in working with their father in the family business of Rambach and Sons Plumbing Company on Pearl Street. In subsequent years, Ed worked for the U.S Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1986. He then enjoyed a few years working at the courthouse as a bailiff.Ed was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Solomon Lodge and the Morocco Temple of Jacksonville, Florida. He enjoyed working as an active member of the Scottish Rite Stage Crew. In 1948 he married Fay Rountree and they were married for 55 years until her death in 2003. He will be missed by his three sons, Larry, Sr. (Brenda), David (Deborah) and Kevin (Debi), three grandchildren, Larry, Jr. (Laura Leigh), Edward II and Brandi Sneed (Joe), three great-grandchildren, Taylor Sneed, Kate Rambach and Larry Rambach III. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend, Evelyn.Poop, as he was affectionately known by his family, was an armchair Jacksonville historian. His recollection and tales of an evolving community were fascinating. He rarely failed to ask his children and grandchildren about their friends and events in their lives, often to their astonishment that he would remember such details. He was very excited to join the league of grandparents when his first grandchild, Larry, Jr., was born and welcomed all the others with equal enthusiasm. His true delight, however, was the birth of his first great grandchild, Taylor, and maintained that delight when Kate and Larry III came along. Poop never saw Brenda, Debi and Deborah as daughters-in-law. He loved them and cherished them as the daughters he never had. He was truly a father figure to all three. He was very proud of the accomplishments of all three of his sons and appreciated their individual gifts and talents. Poop is another loss to The Greatest Generation; those who experienced, and survived, some of the most difficult eras of our history. Our Dad was a wonderful role model and taught all of us some valuable lessons both in word and deed. The personal values and work ethic he passed on to us were something everyone should hope for; the world would be a better place. Dad will always live in our hearts for all he provided and sacrificed for all of us. There was not a better role model for all of those who had him in their lives. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 12th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home on Rowe Avenue. Graveside Masonic services will be 11:00 AM Friday morning March 13th at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 12502 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612-9411.
