

Elaine Taylor Newbill, age 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 24, 2016 in her home. She was a Jacksonville native, attended Vanderbilt University and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Elaine briefly taught at Andrew Jackson High School, then retired to stay home to concentrate on raising her 3 children. In the 1980’s she owned & operated The Cambridge Diet Center. Elaine was a devoted, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family is eternally grateful for all the years they had to spend together.
Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Dr. Cannon E. Newbill, Jr. She is survived by her three devoted children, Kevin Taylor Newbill (Lorri), Laurelle Newbill Pittman (Danny), and Deborah Newbill Berchin (Joel); five wonderful grandchildren that were her constant source of pride, Rebecca Newbill Norris (Greg), Theressa Newbill Menotte (Robert), Cannon Taylor Newbill (Melanie), Kyle Taylor Berchin, & Caitlin Lee Berchin; and most exciting of all for her, four great-grandchildren.
Each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are better people for having been loved & nurtured by Elaine. She made the world a better place. She will be missed more than words can say. Please join us for a visitation on Friday, April 29th at 10am with a service to follow at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, located at 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the MS Society.
