

SCOTT - Elbert Lee Scott, Jr., passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016, surrounded by family and friends in his home. He was born April 22, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Elbert and Auguste Scott.
Elbert attended Leon High School, Tallahassee, FL and graduated from University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and the Sigma Tau Engineering Honor Society--Upsilon Chapter. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and earned the honor of a Victory Medal. Elbert had more than 40 years’ experience in electrical construction as estimator, project manager, engineer and administrator and was one of the founding members of the State of Florida Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board. He served on the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, National Electrical Contractors Association and was a member of the Master Electricians Association. He began his career with IBM in Atlanta before joining Miller Electric Company in the early 1950's. He spent 10 years with Miller Electric and moved on to head the Jacksonville office of Comstock Electric. He returned to Miller Electric to finish his career. Elbert was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a Kiwanian for more than 30 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed travel and photography. Elbert is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Diane, son Brent, (Vicki), daughter Jana Ertrachter, grandson Taylor Ertrachter, and brother Lee H. Scott, (Margaret). A memorial service will be held Friday, April 1st at 10 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211. Following the service there will be a reception at the church for family and friends. After the reception the family and friends will reconvene in Lane #2 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL. 32218 for a 1:00 PM service with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
