

Born in a small town in Germany, she enjoyed 54 years of marriage to the late Cecil (Tom) Pomeroy of Jacksonville before retiring here after his 30-year USAF career. After working as a clerk typist and translator for the US Army, she enjoyed her true avocation of wife and mother. She enjoyed making a home for her family at numerous military installations across 3 continents with her life partner before returning to Florida. In retirement, she made a home in Jacksonville welcoming to all, and always had a special connection with children of all ages. She enjoyed knitting, crochet and dressmaking, and also pursued philatelic pursuits. She was a long-time member of the Jacksonville Stamp Collectors Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother and one sister. She is survived by her sister, Herta Mauthe of North Carolina; her children, Richard Pomeroy of Orlando, Alma Quails (Tony), Laura Sutton Collins, and Sarah Maddox (Dennis), all of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Leah Sikes (Bill) of Georgia, TSgt Anthony Quails (Kumiko) of Holloman AFB, NM, Jon Sutton (Samantha), Thomas Sutton (Julie), Dennis Maddox Jr (Rachel), Westley Maddox, Nathan Quails and Rachel Maddox, all of Jacksonville; and nine great grandchildren, Libby, Will, John & Maggie Sikes, Sarah & Aiden Quails, Lily & Rose Maddox, and Peyton Sutton.
Arrangements entrusted to Hardage Giddens 729 S. Edgewood Ave 32205, where a visitation will be held for family and friends Sunday Jan. 31 from 3:00-5:00pm. A funeral service Tuesday Feb. 2, 2016 at 9:00am, also at Hardage Giddens, will be followed by interment at 11:30am in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
