On November 13, 2017 we lost a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Elizabeth "Betty" King Pedrick DeAngelis was born on August 26, 1922, in Waycross, Georgia to Edna and James K. Pedrick. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and sister-in law, Jimmy & Frances Pedrick, her beloved husband of 70 years, Archie A. DeAngelis in 2014, and their son, Michael A. DeAngelis in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Edna & Michael Corrigan; grandchildren, Jaime DeAngelis, Chelsea & Tyler Kennedy, Emily Corrigan, Connor Corrigan; great-grandson, Ryen DeAngelis; daughter- in-law, Mary Atkinson DeAngelis; niece, Diana Pedrick; wonderful caregiver, Dawn Allen and her “girls” Anne, Laurie, Nancy, Mary Pat and Karen.
Betty graduated from Ware County High School where she was a star basketball player. She also graduated from St. Luke's Hospital Nursing School in 1943. She went back to Waycross after receiving her RN where she met Archie on a blind date when he was stationed in Waycross during WWII. They were married on July 1, 1944. During their 70 years together they started a business, Florida Distributors, raised two children, traveled, and made many life-long friends through their love of square dancing (The Merry Mixers) and golfing (University CC & Selva Marina CC). She was also very active at Assumption Catholic Church through membership in her circle and working the clothes closet. She delivered meals on wheels for many years and was a true lover of books. She had a beautiful smile, great sense of humor and we know she is rolling her eyes at Archie's jokes! We pray she and daddy are dancing and golfing their way through heaven. We would like to thank the staffs of Elmcroft, The Windsor at Ortega, and Life Care Center at Wells Crossing for all of their care and support for mom over the past few years. Thank you also, to Community Hospice. Their care for mom and our whole family during these past few months was a God send.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, from 5-7pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel ,4801 San Jose Blvd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 Friday, November 17, at Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd. Burial and reception to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
