Ellen Omar Bateh

Ellen Omar Bateh, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on December 26, 2017. Ellen was born in Ramallah, Palestine on January 1, 1936 and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1947. In 1954, she married Omar Saleeba Bateh. She was a member of the St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Ramallah-American Club of Jacksonville. During her life, she and her husband owned and operated their own business, and she also worked in retail for many years. In addition, Ellen enjoyed volunteering for the Ladies Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital, and retired after twenty years of service. She was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family, who will miss her greatly, meant everything to her.

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Omar; her parents, John and Maria; and her sister, Alice. She leaves behind her daughter, Marie (Mike); her brother, Jack (Suad); her grandchildren, Sonja, Elaine, Chris-Omar (Jennifer), and Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Michael.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Trisagion at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
