

Born in Broadview, Illinois, on January 16, 1943, Elmer was the beloved son of Elmer and Dorothy (Olesch) Burda. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1966 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to enjoy a distinguished 38-year career with Stanadyne Corporation, where his work and dedication left a lasting legacy.
On June 21, 1969, Elmer married the love of his life, Alberta Louise Edwards. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Elmer’s passions included golfing, bowling, ping pong, and boating—activities he enjoyed with friends and family throughout his life. He was known for his warm sense of humor, his steady presence, and his deep devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta; his three children, Jeffrey (Sarah) Burda of Woodridge, Illinois, Joanne (Anthony) Grippa of Tallahassee, Florida, and Joel (Alisha) Burda of Saint Johns, Florida; his seven grandchildren—Amanda and Alexander Burda, Jessica Knowles, Nicole and Grace Grippa, and Taylor and Addison Burda—who brought him immense pride and joy; and his sister, Bonnie Burgess.
Elmer will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, integrity, and quiet strength touched all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on October 11, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, located at 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, United States.
The funeral service will follow at the same location from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
