Elmer B. "Snuffy" Smith

SMITH—Elmer B. “Snuffy” Smith, 89, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013. He was a native of Waverly, GA and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Treasurer. Mr. Smith retired from Jefferson-Smurfit after a long career. He was a member of Woodstock Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shrine. He was predeceased by his brothers, Verlin and Wilbur Smith and his “special brothers”, John Fuqua and Frank Head. His surviving family includes: his wife of 66 years, Vestel Smith; his daughters, Sandra (Jeff) Fessler, Gail (John) Thrush and Cheryl (Bob) Best; his brother, Carl W. Smith; 2 “special brothers”, Walter and Marvin Taylor; 2 “special sisters”, Doris Sieg and Faye Head; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, April 4 at 11:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church, at the corner of 1st and Liberty Streets, with Dr. Alan Brown officiating. Interment with Military and Masonic Honors, will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday(TODAY) from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave.
