Emelia Elizabeth Sabestinas-Pristupa, age 97, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on December 18, 2022 and peacefully went to her heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the proud daughter of a coal miner, born July 13, 1925 to Anthony and Elizabeth Sabestinas.
She enjoyed spending time with coworkers during her 30 plus years as a state employee of Florida. She also appreciated time spent with her siblings and their families back home in the northeast. Milly Cat was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was selfless and always put her family first ahead of her needs. She traveled across the United States to spend time with her children, she had perfect attendance at all of her grandchildren’s graduations, she loved celebrating their life experiences, and was dedicated to sending holiday cards stuffed with two dollars to all of the grandchildren. For herself, she enjoyed a glass of sweet wine, completing puzzles, watching game shows, dressing up for Halloween, and flirting with a man in a uniform. She shared the importance of mentoring and watching her family grow through seeking knowledge and experiences. Most of all she never knew a stranger and was friendly to anyone she met and enjoyed listening to their stories.
Emelia was preceded in death by her siblings; Mary, Tony, John, Joseph, Anna and her children; Suzan and Gary. She is survived by her children Billy (Debbie), Michele (Michael), and Mark (Sheri); her grandchildren Gregory, Ashlee (Justin), Josh (Laura), Brent, Stacie (Matthew), Morgan, Jake, and Caitlin; and her great grandchildren, Breanna, Easton, Harper,Olivia, River, Hayden, Madelyn, Amelia and Parker.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of her life will be held on December 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
Following the burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, the family will have a lunch reception to enjoy fellowship and share memories of Milly Cat.
