Emily Carolyn Mehaffey

Emily C. Mehaffey, 93, longtime resident of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2012. She was born in Eelbeck, GA, daughter of the late Clifford Roy and Rosa Lena Mehaffey, who established and ran Eelbeck Mills in Eelbeck, GA. For many years.

Emily was a member of the First Baptist Church where she worked with young people and in the ladies ministry for more than 40 years. She loved the Lord and her life was a living testimony to all who knew her. She retired from real estate after many years of service and was well known and respected by her peers.

Emily was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, E.L., Hubert, William “Billy” Mehaffey and sisters Madeline McCardley and Lucile Hunter.

Surviving are her sister Mildred Williams (George)of New Bern, NC, a dear friend, Frances Hendrix and many nieces, nephews and great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus. Rev. Larry Shields will officiate.
